On Wednesday, April 2, 2025, team members from across our communities gathered in Jessup, MD, for a hands-on environmental training hosted by Blackmon Mooring & BMS CAT—and it was anything but ordinary.

Led by Brent Alexander and his expert crew, the session offered a deep dive into the real-world work of remediation. From identifying mold to building micro-containment setups, attendees didn’t just learn about the process—they got to step into it.

Held at BMS CAT’s Stayton Drive facility, the day included live equipment demos, an interactive facility tour, and plenty of opportunities to ask questions, explore best practices, and learn when it’s time to bring in the pros.

One highlight of the day? Corey Murphy, Maintenance Supervisor at the Towns at Woodfield, geared up and volunteered to help demonstrate proper protocol practices (pictured). His hands-on participation helped bring the training to life and showcased the kind of teamwork and initiative we love to see across our communities.

The exercise was specially tailored for Maintenance team members, Managers, and RPMs, with topics including:

  • Mold identification and scale assessment
  • Micro-containment strategies
  • Safety protocols and industry standards
  • When to escalate to environmental experts

Breakfast and lunch were included, fueling great conversation and collaboration throughout the day.

Huge thanks to Brent and the BMS CAT team for creating such an engaging, informative, and truly hands-on experience. We left with valuable tools, fresh insights, and a stronger sense of readiness for whatever challenges might come our way.
